    Reflections Program 2018-2019

You are invited to participate in the PTA’s annual Reflections Program with the 2018-2019 theme: “HEROES AROUND ME” This is the perfect way to showcase your artistic talents in one of six categories! Please click on your category for complete rules:

 
Visual Arts:

 
Film Production:

  • Drawing, painting, collages, computer generated, metal, or fiber work
  • May not exceed 24”x30” and 3/8” thick including matting
  • Must be mounted on mat and protected with art sleeve
  • Fiction or nonfiction
  • Animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, or multimedia
  • Less than 5 min
  • Less than 1GB on DVD or USB drive

 
Photography:

 
Literature:

  • Color or black/white
  • Print image dimensions must be no smaller than 3x5 inches and no larger than 8x10 inches. Accepted print formats: Mounted on mat or poster board no larger than 11x14 inches.
  • Digital image dimensions must be at least 640x960 (pixels) and 300 dpi (resolution).
  • Must be mounted on mat and protected with art sleeve
  • Poetry, prose, play, short story, song lyrics etc.
  • May not exceed 2000 words
  • Single sided
  • No names on front page

 
Dance Choreography:

 
Music Composition:

  • Originally choreographed dance
  • Can be performed by other person
  • Less than 5 min
  • Less than 1GB on DVD or USB drive
  • Original score with or without lyrics
  • Less than 5 min
  • Less than 1GB on CD or USB drive

Entries from Bear Creek Elementary will be submitted under the following age divisions:

Primary: Grades K-2  Intermediate: Grades 3-5 

Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form!

 

 

DON’T RISK DISQUALIFICATION! Follow guidelines carefully, for example:

  • Each entry must be the student’s original work created for this competition.
  • Help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed.
  • For judging, please do not sign the front of any artwork/entry.
  • Students must choose a title and include an Artist Statement that relates how their work connects to the theme. The Artist Statement is very important and is often the deciding factor in judging!

ALL entries will be showcased, and District Qualifiers will be announced, at a reception in the Bear Creek library.

 

 


In its more than 40-year history, the Reflections program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition.
